- There was a total of 643 successful space launches between the years 1999 to 2008.
- Israel and China devote 100% of their space budget to the military in 2008.
- In 2009 Iran announced that it carried out its first successful launch of a satellite into orbit.
- In 2008 there were 63 successful orbital space launches with 3 failures.
- China launched its first satellite in 1970. By October 16, 2003, it had conducted 79 launches. Of those, 67 were successes, 8 were complete failures, and 4 were partial failures placing satellites into incorrect orbits.
